FAQs

Can Sam Bridge Nursery help with common Greenwich yard problems like mulch bed weeds and standing water?

Absolutely. These are frequent issues in our local soil and climate. Our landscape design and lawn care services include proactive weed barrier solutions for mulch beds and strategic grading or drainage system design to redirect standing water, protecting your lawn's health and your property's foundation. We assess each yard individually to create a long-term plan.

What does your full-service landscape design and installation process involve?

Our process begins with a consultation to understand your vision and site conditions. Our designers then create a detailed plan, which may include irrigation design, greenscaping, and hardscaping. Once approved, our experienced installation crews bring the design to life, handling everything from plant selection sourced from our nursery to the final build. We manage the project from concept to completion.

As a family-owned business since 1930, what makes your plant selection unique for local gardens?

Our deep, multi-generational history in Greenwich means we understand exactly which plants thrive in our specific microclimates and soil types. We grow many of our own annuals, perennials, and seasonal crops on-site. This hands-on knowledge allows us to provide expert advice on plant selection and care that is genuinely tailored to succeed in your Greenwich garden for years to come.

About the Company

Sam Bridge Nursery & Greenhouses is a Greenwich family institution, rooted in local soil since 1930. Founded by Sam Bridge Jr. on his father's Doubling Road farm, the business moved to its current North Street location in 1955—land that has been in the Reynolds family since 1686. Over generations, the Bridge family has nurtured the nursery from a small operation specializing in rock garden plants into a comprehensive garden center and landscape firm. Today, Sam III, Mary Jo Palmer, Ron Bridge, and their children continue the legacy, adding services like landscape design and premier garden care while maintaining a deep commitment to quality and community. At 94, the original 'Mr. Bridge' still visits daily, embodying a living history of horticulture in Fairfield County. We specialize in providing Greenwich residents with tailored solutions, from plant selection and garden design to addressing specific local landscaping challenges.
