Frequently Asked Questions
As a La Honda homeowner dealing with dry lawn patches and tree root damage, can you help?
Absolutely. Our design background from Cal Poly emphasizes sustainable solutions tailored to our local environment. For dry patches, we assess irrigation efficiency and soil health, often recommending drought-tolerant native plants or permeable hardscapes that reduce water needs. For tree root damage, we can design and install creative solutions like decorative stone mulching, root-friendly pathways, or integrated seating areas that work with the tree, not against it, preserving your landscape's health and beauty.
You list both landscaping and indoor remodeling. Can you truly handle a project that includes both, like an indoor kitchen and an outdoor kitchen?
Yes, our dual C-27 (Landscaping) and General B (General Building) licenses allow us to manage the entire project seamlessly. As owner-builders with degrees in Landscape Architecture, we ensure the indoor and outdoor spaces are cohesively designed. We handle everything from the permits and foundation for your outdoor kitchen to the cabinetry and plumbing inside, providing a single point of contact and consistent quality throughout.
What's your design process for a custom deck or patio in the Santa Cruz Mountains?
Our process starts with understanding your vision and the unique characteristics of your property. Drawing on our Cal Poly education and local experience, we create designs that complement the natural slope, views, and microclimate. We then present detailed plans, often incorporating durable, locally-sourced materials like stone or sustainable wood. Once approved, our small crew, overseen directly by the owners, handles the construction with precision, ensuring your new outdoor space is both beautiful and built to last.
Company Background
Natural Vibrations is a full-service landscape and construction firm based in La Honda, founded by Kris Keeler and Aaron Mayers. Both are California Polytechnic graduates in Landscape Architecture, bringing a deep, native understanding of California's environment to every project. Their combined expertise—Kris's lifelong observation of native landscapes and Aaron's fourth-generation Italian stone masonry—informs a thoughtful approach to design and build. As owner-builders holding both C-27 and General B licenses, they personally oversee a small, dedicated crew, ensuring quality control and responsiveness from initial design through final installation. Their reputation was cemented early, having been selected to landscape for the Cal Poly University President. Focused on creating cohesive, sustainable, and beautiful spaces, they handle everything from custom outdoor living areas and water features to indoor kitchen and bathroom remodels, prioritizing client collaboration and getting it right the first time.
