Our solution involves careful regrading or excavation to create a stable base, then re-securing or replacing the fabric with heavy-duty staples and proper overlap. We often recommend a thicker gravel or mulch layer on top to add weight and insulation against freeze-thaw cycles, keeping it in place and functional.

It depends on the extent of the movement. We start with an excavation around the base to inspect the footing and drainage. Often, movement is caused by hydrostatic pressure from frozen soil. For minor shifts, we can reinforce the wall with deadmen anchors or a geogrid tie-back system and improve drainage with gravel and perforated pipe. If the foundation has failed, a full rebuild with a deeper, compacted gravel base is the most reliable, long-term solution for North Pole conditions.

Durability starts below the surface. For patios and walls, we perform excavation to a depth below the frost line and install a compacted gravel base for drainage and stability. We use interlocking concrete blocks for walls, which are designed to flex slightly with ground movement. For patios, we ensure a significant slope for water runoff and use polymeric sand between pavers that resists washout.
