Field Form: Experienced Landscaping Serving Brooklyn, NY 11217
301 Douglass St, Brooklyn, NY 11217
Questions and Answers
How does Field Form address common Brooklyn landscaping issues like landscape edging damage and poor lawn grading?
As Brooklyn natives, we understand how local soil conditions and weather patterns contribute to these problems. For landscape edging damage, we use durable materials and proper installation techniques that withstand freeze-thaw cycles. For poor lawn grading, we provide earthmoving and regrading services that create proper drainage away from foundations while maintaining aesthetic appeal. Our approach combines functional solutions with design sensitivity to Brooklyn's unique urban environment.
What makes your landscape design approach different for Brooklyn properties?
Our designs are informed by Sam Robinson's deep understanding of Brooklyn's specific conditions—from the abandoned lots of Gowanus to Prospect Park's ecosystems. We prioritize stormwater management and ecological resilience, selecting plants that thrive in our local climate and creating functional spaces that address urban challenges. Whether it's a small backyard or larger public project, we design with Brooklyn's character and practical needs in mind.
Do you handle both design and construction for projects like patios, retaining walls, and irrigation systems?
Yes, we're a true design/build firm. From initial consultation through installation and maintenance, our team manages the entire process. We self-perform nearly all construction work—including patio installation, retaining wall construction, and irrigation systems—from our Brooklyn workshop. This integrated approach ensures design vision matches execution quality and allows for custom fabrication when needed.

About the Company
Field Form is a Brooklyn-based landscape design/build firm founded by lifelong resident Sam Robinson. Sam's passion for landscapes began in the abandoned lots of Gowanus and fields of Prospect Park, deepened during Peace Corps service in Central Asia where he witnessed post-industrial landscapes' impact on agrarian communities, and was refined through formal training at the New York Botanical Garden, the Royal Botanic Gardens, and Pratt Institute. Our small, versatile team of designer-builder-gardeners offers a comprehensive range of landscaping services—from earthmoving and irrigation to custom construction and ecological maintenance—with nearly all work self-performed from our Stuyvesant Heights workshop. We specialize in creating resilient, functional outdoor spaces with emphasis on stormwater management and ecological health, serving both private and public projects across Brooklyn and New York City.
