Mulch washout is very common here due to our steep slopes and intense summer storms. We help by first assessing your property's grading and water flow. Solutions often include installing erosion-control blankets under mulch, creating rock-lined drainage swales (French drains) to divert water, or using heavier, chunkier mulch materials that lock together. For severe slopes, we may recommend terracing or retaining walls to slow water and hold soil in place, protecting your landscape beds.

Standing water is typically caused by poor drainage in our dense clay soils. Our most effective solution is installing a subsurface French drain system to collect and redirect that water away from your home and yard. We can also regrade the area to create positive slope, build a dry creek bed that looks natural and handles overflow, or even create a beautiful rain garden—a planted basin that absorbs and filters runoff while solving your water problem.
